President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday said he has approved the creation of the Water Resource Management Office (WRMO).

In a video message, Marcos confirmed that he gave a thumbs up on the plan during his sectoral meeting with the officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) held at Malacañang Palace.

The President said the Water Resource Management Office would be working together with the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA), Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), and the water board in addressing water concerns in the country.

Mayroon tayong element of flood control, mayroon diyan irrigation, and fresh water supply.

In a press release, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said an executive order (EO) would be crafted and issued soon.

The said EO will enable the National Water Resources Board (NWRB), the MWSS, the LWUA, and the other water-related agencies of the DENR "to have a collaborative mechanism under the WRMO to implement water management programs."
