President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. encouraged the United States to aid in minimizing fuel prices in the global market.
During the 10th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-US Summit in Cambodia, Marcos appealed to the US to use its domination to alleviate the rising fuel prices caused by the war between Ukraine and Russia.
“We appeal as well to the United States to use its global influence to help ease the current global plight of rising fuel prices that we all have to deal with,” said Marcos in his statement.
US President Joseph R. Biden Jr led the summit.
Aside from the increasing fuel prices issue, Marcos also asked the US for support on ASEAN’s plan of action regarding Energy Cooperation.
“We also encourage the US’ long-term support for the implementation of the ASEAN Plan of Action on Energy Cooperation,” Marcos added.
Furthermore, a call for support in the protection of the environment and climate change was again made by Marcos to the US during his intervention.
The President is in Cambodia for the ASEAN-US Summit until November 13 to discuss the world's current challenges.
