Malacañang announced on Thursday that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has accepted the courtesy resignations of several high-ranking officials, while confirming that key executives from major government institutions will retain their posts.

In a press briefing held at the Palace this afternoon, Press Officer and Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro disclosed that the President has accepted the resignations of:

  • Mark Llandro Mendoza, Presidential Adviser on Legislative Affairs
  • Roman Felix, Presidential Adviser on Military and Police Affairs
  • John Arenas, President and CEO of PNOC Renewables Corporation

These resignations form part of an ongoing review of officials in the Marcos administration aimed at realigning leadership and strengthening performance in various sectors of government.

Despite the reshuffling, six top officials from government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) have been retained in their respective positions. These include:

  • Jose Arnulfo Veloso, President and General Manager of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)
  • Lynette Ortiz, President and CEO of Land Bank of the Philippines
  • Michael de Jesus, President and CEO of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP)
  • Eduardo “Eddie” Guillen, Administrator of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA)
  • Melquiades Robles, General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO)
  • Emmanuel “Edwin” Mercado, Acting President and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation

Usec. Castro emphasized that the decision to retain or accept resignations was the result of thorough performance evaluations and consultations.

It can be recalled that on May 22, the President asked all members of the Cabinet to submit their courtesy resignations, emphasizing that it was time to 'realign the government'.
