A US citizen suspected of stalking Taylor Swift was preemptively nabbed by authorities before the artist's first Eras Tour concert in Germany.
The unnamed 34-year-old was detained before the show, which was held at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen on Wednesday night, July 17. The arrest was made public the following day.
The alleged stalker had made threats against Swift and her boyfriend, football star Travis Kelce, on social media.
"As initial investigations could not completely rule out the possibility of danger, the suspect was identified and taken into custody at the admission control before the concert, for which he had a ticket," the police said in a statement. The suspect was kept until Saturday, July 20.
Police added that there had been no danger to Swift or the estimated 60,000 fans at the Wednesday Eras Tour concert in Gelsenkirchen.
Beginning in March 2023, the tour made its way from North to South America, then moved onto Europe in May, starting with Paris. The tour broke records as the first to sell over $1 billion in tickets, an amount expected to more than double as it comes to an end in Vancouver this December.
