Senate investigation on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) and illegal activities attached to it to continue, Senator Sherwin Gatchalian said on Monday.
"Tuloy 'yung amin dahil hindi pa natin nahahanap 'yung mga mastermind," Sen. Gatchalian said during an ambush interview at the end of the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2024.
President Ferdinand "BongBong" Marcos Jr. announced the total ban of all POGO operations in the country will be banned during his third SONA speech yesterday.
PBBM reiterated that the outright disrespect and abuse to the country’s system must be stopped, highlighting illegal activities associated with POGOs such as scams, human trafficking, prostitution, torture, murder, and money laundering.
The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) was instructed to wind down and seize POGO operations by the end of the year.
Sen. Gatchalian expressed delight following the total ban announcement. The senator also placed emphasis on the significance of reaching a 'closure' to the hearings conducted on the Senate Committee on on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, chaired by Senator RIsa Hontiveros.
The next POGO probe will be held on July 29.
