The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Tuesday that they are temporarily shutting down all of its online services after detecting successive data breach attempts on its system.
In a press briefing in Camp Crame on Tuesday, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said that an account named PH1MS has tried to breach the Firearms and Explosives Office’s (FEO) data system.
Pansamantalang shinut-down ng Pambansang Pulisya ang lahat ng online services nito matapos ang magkasunod na tangkang data breach sa kanilang sistema.

Fajardo further said that the organization’s Information Technology Services (ITMS) is still validating the extent of the said threat.
"As of now po, kausap ko po mismo yung ITMS personnel, ongoing pa po yung validation and assessment and investigation po ng ating Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG)," said Fajardo.
"Napabalita din nga po bago matapos yung linggo na nagkaroon din po ng attempt to breach yun pong FEO sa data system," she added.
Due to this, Fajardo said those who will request clearance and other permits must go to their respective regional offices or national headquarters of the PNP.
"Sa ngayon po ay medyo maapektuhan somehow yung mga online services natin pero tuloy-tuloy po iyon. Ang explanation po sa atin ng ITMS, decentralize muna po muna sa ngayon online services po natin," Fajardo said.
The PNP spokesperson said all the organization's online services will be unavailable for a week while ITMS' investigation is ongoing.
According to Fajardo, the individual behind the threat in the FEO data system is the same one who attempted to breach PNP’s logistics, data, information, and management systems last week.
