The Philippine National Police (PNP) officially launched the Media Action Center on Wednesday, which will serve as the central hub for data from the National Election Monitoring Center during the May 12 election day.

PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil noted that the command center in Camp Crame is fully equipped to monitor and communicate with every police station throughout the country.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was noted that the police force has already been using the 911 hotline to receive and process reports of vote buying.

Furthermore, the PNP is set to initiate a nationwide full-force deployment starting tomorrow, May 8, as part of its preparations for the upcoming elections.

PNP Chief Marbil has directed that commanders themselves be sent to the ground to inspect polling centers and other identified areas of concern.

More than 160,000 police personnel are set to be deployed to 37,000 polling precincts across the country, under a 'full alert' status that has been in effect since Saturday.

On May 9, regional directors are set to carry out inspections under 'Oplan Kontra-Bigay,' the initiative aimed at curbing vote-buying activities.

Campaign activities are set to conclude on May 10, with a liquor ban taking effect on May 11, the day before the public heads to the polls on May 12.
