Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has directed all police personnel to uphold the dignity of the force in preparation for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
Marbil reiterated that ensuring security during the senatorial and local elections will be a major challenge for the police force.
He further stated that the police should not be influenced by what he referred to as undue political pressures or influences.
"Our dignity as police officers is one of our most valuable assets. Let us not allow anyone to take it from us, for no one has the right to do so," Marbil said during the PNP's flag-raising ceremony on Monday morning.
"We must protect our integrity and never allow it to be compromised by temptations or undue influence," he added.
Marbil issued the statement during his speech, which coincided with the day the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) was set to print the official ballots for the elections.
Meanwhile, the election period will officially start on January 12, and the PNP is anticipated to release a list of areas of concern in connection with the 2025 elections.
