Over 1,378 online content were monitored and flagged as ‘fake news’ which were allegedly posted by DDS (Diehard Duterte Supporters) to malign the police organization, says Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III in a press conference on Monday.
“Wala na yatang makuhang lehitimong isyu itong mga kritiko ng ating gobyerno. Lahat ng kritiko ng presidente kung anu-ano na lang pinagsasabi. Kritiko ng PNP, gagawa na lang ng kwento,” PNP Chief Torre said in the press conference.
Torre cited four videos misused by DDS individuals online to spread false information and misleading commentary towards the government and PNP.
The first video uploaded by Mitsy Vlogs presented three young men riding a motorcycle with one of them placing a wooden bench in the middle of the road which resulted in a road accident. The PNP chief said that the uploader made it appear that the incident happened in the Philippines by including bisaya words on the video. But it was verified that the motorcycle’s plate number was located in Indonesia.
The second flagged video was uploaded by a user named “Kerwin Salvador dela Cruz” showing a group of teenagers ganged up on a man. Upon verification, Torre says the video happened in Vietnam.
In a third video, the scene shows child bullying within a certain school which was verified as an institution based in Indonesia.
In the fourth video, Torre showed an altercation incident that occurred in May 2025 but was later on reposted to show a robbery incident mixed with political narratives.
“Bumalik na naman mga snatcher. We need a du30 leader na naman,” the uploader stated in the video caption.
Torre affirms that they are currently coordinating with Meta to take down several flagged videos from Facebook.
Based on the data from PNP-Anti Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) the total count of suspected online fake news circulated from January to August 2025. 1,260 were initially detected by tech company Meta and over 1,372 posts were requested to be taken down.
Meanwhile, 6 cases have already been filed against the alleged online disinformation, wherein 4 are under preliminary investigation, and 2 cases are in an ongoing trial.
