Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil ordered the re-opening of the case into the killing of Wesley Barayuga, a former PCSO Board Secretary, that occurred four years ago.

This move is prompted by the recent testimonies of witnesses Police Lieutenant Colonel Santie Mendoza from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group and former Police Corporal Nelson Mariano.

Witnesses revealed that Napolcom Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo and former PCSO General Manager Royina Garma were the alleged individuals responsible for Barayuga's murder.

In his testimony last Friday regarding the investigation into extrajudicial killings from the Duterte administration, Mendoza revealed that Garma directed an operation allegedly aimed at a high-profile target.

According to a report by RH Val Gonzales, Marbil emphasized that the allegations made by Mendoza during the House of Representatives quad-committee hearing are serious and require a thorough investigation.

Marbil further stated that no one is above the law and that the PNP will deliver justice for the victim's family.

In light of this, Marbil ordered PBGen. Nicolas Torre III, the head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), to lead the re-investigation of the Barayuga murder case.

Meanwhile, members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Matikas Class of 1983 previously expressed their appreciation to the House quad-committee for its investigation into the death of their 'Mistah,' which resulted in the identification of those responsible for his murder.
