Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil acknowledged the significant drop in focus crimes, which declined by 18.4% in recent months.
In the Command Conference held on March 25, Marbil reported that the total number of Eight Focus Crimes (8FC) dropped from 8,950 incidents (November 3, 2024 – January 11, 2025) to 7,301 incidents (January 12 – March 22, 2025), based on a 70-day comparative crime report.
The data also showed a major decrease in the key crime categories: murder cases went down from 1,535 to 1,243, homicide cases from 1,341 to 1,021, and physical injury cases from 1,002 to 663.
Moreover, cases of rape and theft also declined. However, the number of carnapping incidents remained almost the same.
Notable reductions in crime were observed in regions such as NCRPO, PRO 4A, and PRO 7. Furthermore, the Average Monthly Index Crime Rate (AMICR) dropped from 2.57 to 2.10.
PRO 13 recorded the most significant decrease at 1.05, followed by PRO 4A (-0.76) and PRO 7 (-0.69). In contrast, the AMICR saw a slight increase of 0.07 in PRO BAR.
"Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat sa patuloy na pagsisikap upang mapababa ang crime rate. Huwag tayong magpapaapekto sa anumang negatibong balita na maaaring subukang sirain ang ating mga ginagawa—sa halip, hayaan nating magsalita ang ating mga aksyon," Marbil told the police force.
"Ang pagbaba ng krimen ay patunay ng ating disiplina, dedikasyon, at pagsusumikap para sa kapayapaan at kaayusan," he added.
He urged the police officers to strengthen crime prevention strategies, enhance community collaboration, and improve operations to better ensure the safety of the public.
