Members of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Matikas Class of 1983 expressed their gratitude to the House quad-committee for their investigation into the death of their ‘Mistah,’ Wesley Barayuga, which led to the identification of those truly behind his murder.

The appreciation to the quad-committee was expressed in a manifesto signed by retired Air Force Col. Enrique Dela Cruz, President of the PMA Class of 1983.

"Your persistent efforts and incisive line of questioning have given light and hope for the successful resolution of Wesley's tragic assassination 4 years ago," the letter read.

The group stated that although Barayuga's life cannot be brought back, the quad-committee is now making efforts to ensure that those behind his killing are held accountable and charged.

"Such service and commitment to deliver justice and righteous acts as you do today gives us confidence that our nation is indeed represented by wise, courageous and honorable men," the group said.

Meanwhile, Surigao Del Norte 2nd District Representative Robert Ace Barbers, who also serves as the overall chair of the quad-committee, expressed his gratitude for the trust given to them by the PMA Matikas Class of 1983.

Barbers pledged that the committee will do its best to hold those responsible for Barayuga's murder accountable and ensure justice for his death.

During the seventh hearing of the quad-committee on September 27, Police Lieutenant Colonel Santie Mendoza of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Drug Enforcement Group and former Police Corporal Nelson Mariano appeared as witnesses, detailing the events leading up to Barayuga's murder.

Both Mendoza and Mariano identified former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Royina Garma and Napolcom Commissioner Edilberto Leonardo as the individuals who allegedly ordered Barayuga's murder.

The assassination is connected to the alleged irregularities in the Small Town Lottery operations that Barayuga reportedly discovered at the PCSO.
