The Pinay beauty queen exuded confidence as she donned a magnificent yellow-gold gown, intricately designed with the image of the Our Lady of Good Voyage at the back. She accessorized with a stunning headpiece and gracefully held two fans.
The costume, named "Hiraya," is derived from an ancient Tagalog word that translates to "I hope." It represents the ability to create or envision things in one's mind, often associated with aspirations, hopes, and desires.
"Believing in once was a dream and aspiration to being able to touch and live it into reality. Faith can navigate us through life. No matter what religion we believe in," said Manalo in a social media post.
Manalo's costume represents the long-standing history and connection between the Philippines and Mexico, showcasing their mutual devotion to religion.
Furthermore, the majestic colors and detailed fabrics of Inaul, combined with the ornate forms and patterns of Islamic art, beautifully portray the rich culture and religious beliefs of Muslims.
Tongkaling, a traditional piece from Mindanao, was among the accessories worn by the country's representative, believed to provide protection and blessings.
A key highlight of the costume is the image of the Virgin Mary at the back. The Our Lady of Antipolo, a historical image brought from Mexico during the 16th century, was introduced to the Philippines through the galleon trade.
"A testament that religions can live peacefully and harmoniously, venerating and respecting each other's practices and beliefs together as one nation," said Manalo.
Chelsea will aim for the Philippines' fifth Miss Universe title at the coronation night on November 17 (Philippine time).
