The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) warned the public on Monday, Oct. 2, against the possible leak of "distorted" information following the cyberattack in the state insurer’s online systems.

“We anticipate that the group behind this attack may attempt to release distorted information through various channels [...] We rely on your assistance, esteemed members of the media to caution the public against these dissembling actions,” PhilHealth President Emmanuel Ledesma Jr. said in a press conference.

According to Ledesma, the hackers’ intention was to “portray themselves as heroes” which the general public should be warned against.

Meanwhile, PhilHealth ensured that the general information of the members were safe from the ransomware incident.

PhilHealth earlier announced on Thursday, Sept. 29, that they resumed their online systems, such as its corporate website and member portal after the ransomware hacking incident.
