The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has issued a reminder that it covers part of the hospitalization costs for individuals affected by heat-related illnesses.
PhilHealth Chief Dr. Edwin Mercado made the statement in light of the extreme heat being felt at present.
Mercado further stated that a benefit package of ₱12,675 is available for those who suffer from heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
In addition to this, the state insurer will cover ₱18,135 if an individual requires hospitalization due to heat fatigue.
PhilHealth's consultation package is free, making it available for check-ups and early detection of health-related conditions.
Malacañang previously vowed to implement actions aimed at addressing the effects of rising temperatures and extreme heat conditions in the country.
The public was urged to adhere to the Department of Health’s (DOH) recommendations to avoid health problems caused by the soaring temperatures.
Moreover, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) also issued a caution to the public regarding the risks of heat-related conditions such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
A recent forecast from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) warned that Metro Manila and other provinces could potentially experience an extreme heat index.
