The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday said it has revised its target for individuals eligible for the first COVID-19 booster after the country continues to record slow rates.
In an interview, DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire said they initially targeted at least 50% or about 23 million Filipinos who have completed their primary vaccination to receive their first booster shots.
"Hanggang ngayon mababa pa rin, we are just at 24% for the first booster shot in the country," Vergeire said.
"We have revised our target that we at least reach 30% pagdating ng Oct. 8, and then progressively until the end of the year, hopefully, we will reach about 50-70%," she added.
Based on the data from DOH, over 18.6 million individuals have received their first booster dose, while more than 2.5 million have taken their second booster shot.
