If the daily COVID-19 cases are concerned, the Philippines has the lowest daily cases of the said virus in the entire southeast Asian countries, according to the Department of Health (DOH).

In a statement, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III reported that the infection rate of the country is at only 8.82% compared to the five neighboring countries.

Duque said that Singapore recorded the highest daily infection rate at 3, 237.55, second is Vietnam with 1366.39, following suit is Malaysia with 845.10, Thailand with 326.59, and Indonesia at 121.96.

Duque believes that a big reason why the Philippines is seeing a decline in the number of CoVid19 cases is that its people follow basic health safety protocols like wearing facemasks. Another reason is the fact that the country has a high vaccination rate.

In case there will be another spike in COVID-19 cases, the government is prepared to address the new surge. Duque also added that the mortality rate of the virus in the country is low at 1.5%.

The "new normal" should be treated as a context that we all need to learn to live by.
