President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Thursday said performance is the “best way to earn” the public’s trust.
During the question-and-answer portion at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, Marcos was asked how he could efficiently rebuild the trust of the people.
"The best politics, I always say, is performance because it is something that cannot be taken away from you and it is something that actually makes a difference in people’s lives," he underscored.
"Perform and you will get back the trust of the people and that is what we all politicians [do] and I’m sure even people from the business side… that is what we strive for," Marcos added.
Meanwhile, in his opening remarks at the APEC Summit, the President tackled climate change which he described as the most “pressing existential challenge of our time."
He pushed for the prioritization of renewable energy alternatives such as hydropower, geothermal power, solar, and other low-emission energy sources.
Marcos is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of APEC on Thursday afternoon.
