A total of 15,000 housing units will rise in Angeles City, Pampanga as part of the government's efforts to provide decent and affordable housing to Filipino families.
This is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s national housing flagship program, "Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino" (4PH), which aims to address the country's housing backlog by providing safe, decent, and sustainable shelter to 6.5 million families in six years.
To formally kick off the project, City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) led by Secretary Jose Acuzar on Monday in Quezon City.
The project will see the construction of 12 buildings with 22 stories each in the city to house qualified beneficiaries.
According to Lazatin, this is a landmark and milestone project because Angeles City is one of the 4PH beneficiaries.
The mayor also stated that he is honored to carry on his father's legacy with the assistance of President Marcos, Secretary Acuzar, and the entire DHSUD.
Former Angeles City Mayor and First District Representative Carmelo Lazatin, the incumbent mayor's late father, established the Local Urban Poor and Housing Affairs Office (LUPAHO) and was able to provide 15,000 housing units to indigent families during his administration.
Meanwhile, the city government will provide the land for the project under the MOU, while DHSUD will oversee its implementation in collaboration with other key agencies.
It will also handle beneficiary identification, which will include, but not be limited to, social preparation, census enumeration, socioeconomic profiling, and the establishment of social parameters.
