The Philippine Airlines (PAL) announced that one of its passengers in the Manila-Hongkong flight tested positive for monkeypox.
In a statement issued on Wednesday night, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said the passenger aboard at PR300 PAL flight last Sept. 5 was reported to have monkeypox.
She said the management has coordinated with both Hongkong health authorities and the Department of Health (DOH) regarding the information about the case.
“We are also notifying the passengers on the flight who were in close proximity to the affected traveler,” Villaluna said.
The passengers on the said flight are advised to monitor their health and requested to seek medical treatment if they are experiencing any symptoms.
The PAL spox said passengers can contact the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Hongkong Department of Health (DH) for assistance.
As of writing, there are four confirmed monkeypox cases recorded in the country by the health department.
On Aug. 31, the DOH reported that the Filipino in the fourth case was recovering and no rashes and symptoms were observed.
