The water of La Mesa dam in Quezon City is expected to further elevate and may overflow due to the continuous rains brought by Severe Tropical Storm Falcon and enhanced Southwest Monsoon, the PAGASA Hydro-Meterology Division said on Saturday, July 29.
According to its dam situationer issued at 10 PM, PAGASA Hydrologist Division said La Mesa dam’s water level may reach the normal high level of 80.15 meters.
The excess flood waters may affect residents in low-lying areas particularly those situated near the Tullahan River in Quezon City namely, Fairview, Forest Hills Subd., Quirino Highway, Sta. Quiteria, and San Bartolome.
Also affected are residents of Malabon City and some areas of Valenzuela City, particularly Brgy. Ligon, North Expressway, and La Huerta Sbd.
“All residents living in the aforementioned areas, especially those near the river banks, are advised to be alert for possible flooding,” PAGASA Hydro-Meterology Division said.
It added that it will continously monitor the development of La Mesa Dam.
As of Sunday, July 30, the water level of the La Mesa Dam is at 79.79 meters, slightly higher than the 79.58 recorded prior.
PAGASA has raised a yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Bataan, and Southern Zambales which means light to moderate with occasional heavy rains are expected to experience.
