The Low Pressure Area (LPA) that was being monitored earlier is now inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), PAGASA announced early Friday.

"As of 2:00 AM today, 06 June 2025, a Low Pressure area (LPA 6a) is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a "MEDIUM" chance of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours," PAGASA said.

As of 3:00 a.m., the LPA was located 945 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

According to PAGASA forecaster Dan Villamil, the chance of this LPA developing into a typhoon within the next 24 hours remains low.

"Pero hindi natin inaasahan o hindi natin tinatanggal yung posibilidad ng development sa mga susunod na araw" Villamil added.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is currently affecting Luzon and the western parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

Due to the combined effects of the habagat and the trough extension of the LPA, overcast skies are expected over large portions of the country today.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, as well as the entire Visayas and Mindanao.

In most parts of Northern and Central Luzon, generally fair weather is expected, except for isolated short-duration rains due to thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening.

As for sea conditions, no gale warning is in effect, and slight to moderate waves are expected over most of the country's coastal waters.
