One of the low-pressure areas (LPA) currently inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to PAGASA on Tuesday, July 22.
In an interview during Magandang Umaga Pilipinas, PAGASA weather forecaster Lorie Dela Cruz said the LPA was spotted 1,140 km east of Central Luzon, as of 3 AM.
"Sa ating analysis ngayon, ito pong LPA na nasa Silangang bahagi ng Central Luzon ay mataas po ang tyansang mabuo bilang isang bagyo in the next 24 hours kaya patuloy po tayong maging updated sa PAGASA," said PAGASA weather forecaster Lorie Dela Cruz.
"Kung sakali po ay mag-enhance po ito ng habagat, just in case po na matuloy 'yung kaniyang pag-enhance or 'yung pagbuo nitong bagyo," she added.
Another LPA was also spotted inside PAR, located 370 km east of Calayan, Cagayan and has a "medium" potential of developing into tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
PAGASA also warned that Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro may experience monsoon rains.
Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro may experience occasional rains also due to the southwest monsoon.
Cloudy skies will prevail over the Cagayan Valley region due to the trough of the LPA.
Meanwhile, the Visayas, the rest of Luzon, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.
The southwest monsoon will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms to the rest of Mindanao.
Sunrise is expected at 5:37 a.m. and sunset at 6:28 p.m. today.
