As of noon today, the number of visitors paying respects at Libingan ng mga Bayani has reached over 20,000. A higher turnout is expected at Libingan ng mga Bayani this year compared to last year’s Undas observance.
"Halos pareho ng bilang pero kung tutuusin natin, pangalawang araw palang ngayon ay naka 20,046 na tayo as of kaninang alas-onse ng umaga," Lt. Col. Emelita Altamerano, chief of the Army Grave Services Unit, said on Friday.
"Most probably, mas madami ang ineexpect nating makakarating ngayong taong ito kumpara noong isang taon," she added.
Meanwhile, visitors are expected to continue arriving at the graves of their loved ones until November 3.
Last year, over 80,000 people reportedly visited the Libingan ng mga Bayani to observe All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day.
The Philippine Army previously held a candle-lighting ceremony to honor fallen soldiers who fought in wars, as well as scientists, national artists, and former Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines.
