The Philippine Adventist Medical Aviation Services (Pamas Mission), the operator of the missing medical chopper in Palawan, is asking for donations to fund its rescue operation.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, PAMAS said five of its helicopters that are conducting search and rescue operations are in need of fuel.
"Many of you are asking how you can help in our search and rescue operations for our missing helicopter. Five aircraft will be assisting us today and we really need more fuel than what we have on hand," PAMAS Palawan Director Sean Knapp said.
Those who are willing to donate can send their donations via PAMAS' official website or their electronic wallet account GCash and bank account.
"Thank you so much to those who have already started to share! It’s a big help! The planes and boats are already out searching since early this morning," it said in another Facebook post.
On Wednesday, the medical helicopter (medevac) carrying five individuals reportedly went missing in Palawan.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that the medevac helicopter departed at about 7:30 am at Brooke’s Point to pick up a patient at Mangsee Island.
However, it did not arrive at the expected arrival time of 10:30 am at Southern Palawan Provincial Hospital.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Palawan Commander Capt. Dennis Rem Labay reported PCG personnel found the debris fragments suspected to be part of the missing medical evacuation (medevac) in the vicinity of Lumbucan Island, Palawan, the last location it was spotted.
But he said the PCG personnel did not see any passengers in the area.
