Tropical Storm Ofel continued to weaken while moving north northeast over the sea west of Taiwan, PAGASA reported early Saturday.
In its 5 AM bulletin, the weather bureau reported that Tropical Storm Ofel was located 240 km northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h and gusts reaching up to 90 km/h.
Tropical Storm Ofel is not expected to cause significant rainfall across any part of the country with no Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals hoisted.
Ofel is expected to move northeastward today, passing through southern Taiwan and emerging over the sea east of Taiwan by early morning tomorrow, November 17.
Moreover, it is forecast to weaken further due to the increasingly unfavorable environment and interaction with Taiwan's mountainous terrain, with the possibility of downgrading to a remnant low by tomorrow or earlier.
The next tropical cyclone bulletin will be released at 11:00 AM today.
