Obiena wins first 2024 gold in Croatia

EJ Obiena dominated the 2024 Memorial Josip Gasparac tournament.
The 28-year old Filipino pole vaulter cleared 5.84 meters on Tuesday, February 20, in Osijek, Croatia to seize his first gold medal in 2024, and set a new meet record.
Pedro Buaro of Portugal finished in second place after clearing 5.73 meters while American pole vaulter Olen Tray Oates seized the bronze medal after clearing a height of 5.61 meters.
Obiena prepares to compete in the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships in March in Glasgow, United Kingdom, and in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France, which will kick-off in July.
