The National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) on Wednesday launched a nationwide SIM registration rollout to facilitate mobile users situated in remote areas.
In a press conference, NTC officer-in-charge Ella Blanca Lopez said each telecommunication company would have its designated booth in the registration venue.
"For SMART, Ditto, and Globe, may mga booths sila doon and subsribers will go to the respective telcos and then, may mag a-assist po sa kanila kung paano gagawin ang registration," she explained.
The SIM Registration rollout was organized by NTC in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
The SIM registration Assistance will be set up in 15 locations in different provinces, and this will go on for three days.
In a press release on Tuesday, DICT said the SIM registration rollout will be established in the following areas:
January 25
- Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte – Municipal Auditorium of Pasuquin
- Moalboal, Cebu – Municipal Hall of Moalboal
- Palo, Leyte – Municipal Gym of Palo
- Pangantucan, Bukidnon – Municipal Gymnasium of Pangantucan
- Malalag, Davao del Sur – Covered Court of Malalag
January 26
- Atok, Benguet – Basketball Court in Atok
- Camalaniugan, Cagayan – Camalaniugan Sports Complex in Brgy. Dacal, Lafugu, Maharlika Hi-way
- Calumpit, Bulacan – Municipal Covered Court of Calumpit
- Rosario, Batangas – Luancing Covered Court, back of Municipal Hall Brgy. Poblacion
- City of Zamboanga, Zamboanga del Sur – Multi-purpose covered court in Brgy. Arena Blanco
January 27
- Baco, Oriental Mindoro – Covered court in Brgy. Sta Rosa 1
- City of Ligao, Albay – Multi-purpose covered court in Brgy. Paulba, Ligao City
- Carles, Iloilo – Covered Gym of Carles in front of Municipal Hall
- Arakan, Cotabato – Emergency Operations Center (MDRRM Office) in Evacuation Center Bldg., Municipal Hall Compound, Poblacion
- Tagbina, Surigao del Sur – Municipal Gym of Tagbina
As of January 24, a total of 24,922,249 subscribers has registered their SIM cards.
Of the total, 67,995,734 are SMART subscribers, 10,292,954 are Globe users, and 13,108,103 are Ditto users.
