Travelers on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) will face a toll increase set to take effect starting March 2, according to an announcement from NLEX Corporation.
NLEX open system toll rates from Balintawak to Marilao, Bulacan will be raised by P5 for Class 1 vehicles, P13 for Class 2, and P15 for Class 3 vehicles.
Moreover, this also includes the Caloocan and Mindanao Avenue exits.
With this, the new toll charges for the open system will be P79 for Class 1 vehicles, P199 for Class 2, and P238 for Class 3 vehicles.
Motorists using the NLEX from Balintawak to Sta. Ines in Pampanga will incur an additional charge of P57 for Class 1 vehicles, P142 for Class 2, and P171 for Class 3 vehicles.
As a result, the end-to-end toll will be P416 for Class 1 vehicles, P1,039 for Class 2, and P1,247 for Class 3 vehicles.
"The adjustments, which followed regulatory procedures and underwent thorough review, are the consolidated amount of the first tranche of the approved periodic adjustments of NLEX due in 2023 and the add-on toll for the completion of the ₱7.7B new Candaba 3rd Viaduct in 2024," NLEX Corporation said in an official statement on Thursday.
"The increase due in 2023 was deferred and divided into two tranches to ease the impact on expressway users," it added.
Meanwhile, the NLEX Corporation reported that from 2021 to 2024, the tollway company has undertaken infrastructure projects and improvements in its road networks, enhancing the safety, mobility, and convenience of motorists.
Two major projects, designed to further decongest the NLEX mainline, are also set to begin construction this year.
