The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) supports the permanent banning of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) in the country.

In a press briefing in Malacañang, NEDA chief Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said that the social cost of businesses like POGO is high, explaining that the negative effects of crimes and issues involving POGOs are greater than the benefits caused in terms of income and economic impact.

He thinks of encouraging very legitimate investments or good-quality investments, saying that the government wanted investments that would produce goods and services.

Balisacan also emphasized that the country wants investment inflows that will promote not only the economic but also the social aspects of the country’s development.
