Malacañang has declared the suspension of work in all government agencies and classes at all levels in Luzon due to the inclement weather brought by Tropical Storm "Kristine."

The announcement was made by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin through the Presidential Communications Office.

"In view of the inclement weather brought about by Tropical Storm #KristinePH affecting the whole country, particularly the Island of Luzon, work in government offices and classes at all levels in Luzon are hereby suspended on 23 October 2024," the statement read.

However, the suspension does not apply to "agencies whose functions involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services, which shall continue their operations and render the necessary services."

Bersamin also stated that the suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.

According to PAGASA's 5 a.m. advisory, Tropical Storm "Kristine" has slightly intensified while moving over the sea east of Quezon.

The eye of Kristine is located 180 km north-northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west-northwestward at 25 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 105 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) Nos. 1 and 2 have been raised in parts of the country.
