A total of 2,737 passengers were still stranded in different ports in three regions due to Typhoon Karding, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday, Sept. 26.

In its 8 am situational report, the NDRRMC said there were 1,944 passengers stranded in the Bicol region, 321 passengers in Calabarzon, and 472 passengers in Mimaropa after all scheduled sea trips were canceled.

It said there were 260 rolling cargoes, 24 vessels, and 13 motorbancas remained stranded.

About 47 ports were still non-operational or suspended.

Meanwhile, only two roads in the Bicol region that were reported as not passable.

The NDRRMC said 682 families or 2,444 individuals were pre-emptively evacuated in Region 1, Region 2, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Region 6.

In the weather bulletin from PAGASA as of 5 am Monday, it reported that Typhoon Karding maintains strength as it moves away from Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gusts of up to 170 kph.

Typhoon Karding is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday night.
