On Tuesday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) successfully rescued the six-month-old twins who had been missing for several months.
Director Judge Jaime Santiago led the investigation by NBI-Lucena District Office (LUCDO) and NBI-Laguna District Office (LAGDO). According to Director Santiago, a distressed mother filed a complaint saying that her newborn twins had been abducted by a certain woman. She revealed that she initially agreed to give up her children for adoption in exchange for financial assistance, including her costs of labor expenses during pregnancy.
The woman refused to proceed with the adoption after giving birth, stating that she had changed her mind. However, the accused did not listen and took custody of the twins, giving them up for adoption.
She also demanded that the complainant pay a reimbursement of P350,000 for all the expenses incurred during the pregnancy in exchange for returning the twins. The former also claimed that the children had already been adopted by a foreign couple.
Through the rescue operation by NBI, they were able to find the twins’ whereabouts and was able to safely return them to their mother.
“Director Santiago assured the public that the NBI remains committed to protecting the welfare of children and will continue to pursue those involved in illegal adoption activities,” the NBI’s statement ended.
