A couple, owners of a luxury home design and construction firm, were arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in relation to a ₱200 million estafa case.
On August 6, Draco Builders owners Miguel Santiago Syjuco and Nicole Lorraine Syjuco were apprehended upon arrival, following an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 20 in Davao Occidental, according to the NBI.
The Syjucos allegedly collected 95 percent of the agreed payments but left the projects incomplete—and refused to refund the advance payment, said the NBI. They now face misappropriation and contractual deceit charges.
The BI’s Advance Passenger Information System (APIS), which allows for the screening of passengers prior to their arrival, enabled authorities to flag the couple and conduct a swift arrest.
In 2023, Nicole Syjuco landed a feature in Tatler Asia for her stylish glass house.
