The National Press Club (NPC) welcomes the surrender of Joel Estorial, who confessed to the murder of broadcaster Percival Mabasa, also known as Percy Lapid, last October 3 in Brgy. Talon Dos, Las Piñas City.
NPC president Lydia Bueno expects that the surrender of Estorial will help resolve the murder case.
"Makakatulong itong pagsuko nito, ng umano'y gunman na si Joel Estorial, para sa hinihingi natin pagkamit ng hustisya," said Bueno on Tuesday, October 19, during DZRH's Balansyado.
However, Bueno stressed that the authorities should continue to investigate the murder of Lapid in order to identify the mastermind and the involvement of other people.
"Hindi pa rin tayo dapat maging kampante doon sa pangyayaring ito dahil meron pa rin mga bagay na kailangan alamin o masusing imbestigahan nung mga iba pang detalye tungkol dito," Bueno said.
Escorial earlier said that the order to kill Lapid came from a person inside the New Bilibid Prison.
The self-confessed gunman also revealed that he has five cohorts. and he identified three of them: Edmon Dimaculangan, his brother Israel Dimaculangan, and a certain 'Orly' who lives in Batangas
Bueno, meanwhile, thanked the authorities for their efforts to immediately resolve the murder of Lapid.
