P-pop girl group BINI released an official statement on Thursday evening after a video involving members Jhoanna, Stacey, and Colet went viral online.
"We know that the past couple of days have been triggering and disappointing for all of you. Sincerely, we understand where all of those feelings are coming from," said BINI.
"The video shows a private moment of us with friends. We definitely did not intend to hurt anyone in the process. We offer no excuse for our actions, reactions, and choice of words. We take full accountability. Nagkamali kami," they added.
The group said they "deeply regret" their mistake and are apologizing to their Blooms, friends, families, and the general public.
The circulating video featured two male friends of the group engaging in a suggestive skit. While BINI leader Jhoanna appeared on camera, fans pointed out that members Stacey and Colet were also present and believed to be the voices heard in the background.
Following this, fans urged BINI to address the situation, with many expressing disappointment over the group’s involvement in what appeared to be a sexual joke referencing a minor.
"We humbly ask for a chance to reflect on and learn from our mistakes and continue to work on becoming better versions of ourselves," the group said.
"Maraming salamat po sa inyong malasakit, suporta, at pang-unawa," they concluded.
BINI was formed by ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy and is composed of Mikha, Sheena, Aiah, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Colet, and Jhoanna. The group officially debuted in June 2021.
Among their hits are "Pantropiko," "Salamin, Salamin", "Lagi," "Na Na Na" and "Cherry on Top."
