A heated argument escalated between a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) enforcer and an airport police officer along EDSA Busway on Sunday, January 21, according to the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT).
According to SAICT's incident report posted on its official Facebook page, the airport police refused to surrender his driver's license after he was caught traversing the EDSA lane exclusive only for buses, law enforcement vehicles, emergency vehicles, and top government officials' vehicles.
The SAICT added that the airport police reportedly grabbed the cellphone of the MMDA enforcer.
"Sa huli, violation pa din ang bagsak ng nasabing airport police na nagpakilala bilang empleyado ng Department of Transportation (DOTr)," it said.
The tension between the MMDA enforcer and an airport police officer was caught on camera.
The airport police officer and his co-worker were suspended from their position after the said incident, according to Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Eric Ines.
“We cannot just tolerate this kind of abuse. It is embarrassing and this must stop,” Ines said in a press statement.
"Violation pa rin ‘yung going through the [EDSA] Bus Carousel," he added.
