Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Rema, Ice Spice, Straykids, and many big names in the music industry won big at MTV's 2023 Video Music Awards (VMAs) on Tuesday, September 12.

American pop superstar Taylor Swift received the most VMA awards. She bagged the Best Pop Award, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Cinematography for her hit song, "Anti-Hero".

This marks the fourth year that the 33-year-old singer won the Video of the Year.

Taylor could not hide her blush after she accepted the "Best Pop" trophy from the "golden pop hands" of the 90s boy group *NSYNC.

In her brief speech, the singer expressed her strong passion for pop music.

“I love making pop music. I love making pop music videos. I also loved making country. I love slinking around different genres. The only reason I’m allowed to do is because you the fans gave me the opportunity to do that," Taylor remarked.

Meanwhile, Selena and Rema won the Best Afrobeats for their song, "Calm Down". They beat other competing artists namely, Ayra Starr, Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy DML & Asake, Libianca, and Wizkid ft. Ayra Starr.

Ice Spice, who was behind the revamped "Barbie World" with Nicki Minaj, took home the Best New Artist. She bested GloRilla, Kaliiii, Peso Pluma, PinkPatheress, and Renee Rapp.

Despite being newbies in the prestige international award show, South Korean boy groups Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together (TXT) emerged as winners in the Best K-pop and PUSH Performance of the Year categories, respectively.

Other artists who claimed the following titles in the 2023 VMA are as follows:

  • Best Collaboration Award - Shakira & KaRoL G.
  • Best Hip-Hop - Nicki Minaj
  • Global Icon - Diddy
  • Best R&B - SZA
  • Best Rock- Måneskin
  • Best Latin - Anitta
  • Vanguard - Shakira
  • Video for Good - Dove Cameron for "Breakfast"

Various artists also showcased robust performances in the VMAs. Among them are powerful soloists Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Demi Lavato, and Sharika who all performed their latest hits.

Some groups who lit up the stage on fire are Fall Out Boy, Stray Kids, and TXT.

The annual VMA was held at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
