The Metropolitan Rail Transit (MRT-3) and the Light Rail Transit (LRT-2) are offering free rides to single parents on Saturday, April 20.
In their latest advisory, the MRT-3 and LRT-2 management said the libreng sakay is offered in celebration of Solo Parents' Day, and this will take effect from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
"Saludo po ang MRT-3 sa lahat ng solo parents na ubos-lakas na nagsasakripisyo upang maitaguyod ang kanilang mga anak," Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge Jorjette Aquino said.
"Hangad po namin na sa aming libreng sakay ay mapasaya namin sila sa kanilang espesyal na araw. Nawa po ay maipadama namin sa lahat ng solo parents ang aming paghanga at pagpapahalaga sa kanilang mga sakripisyo," she added.
In his part, LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera also expressed his solidarity with the solo parents.
Tayo po sa LRTA, batid natin 'yung bigat ng responsibilidad ng mga solo parent. Kaya naman sa pagdiriwang na ito, sana maiparamdam ng LRTA ang aming paghanga at pasasalamat sa inyo sa pamamagitan po ng handog naming libren sakay," Cabrera remarked.
To avail of the free ride, the train management said solo parents need to present their solo parent's identification card to any station's personnel.
