More than 1,300 police officers will be deployed for the upcoming 125th anniversary of the country's Independence Day celebration on Monday, June 12.
According to Manila Police District DD Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon, various activities are lined up in Manila, including Independence Day programs at Rizal Park and Quirino Grandstand, which will be attended by high-ranking government officials led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In addition, there are groups expected to conduct protest actions in different areas of Manila.
Dizon stated that 1,363 police personnel will be stationed across Manila to ensure the peace and safety of participants in the celebration.
The MPD will closely monitor areas with activities, anticipating an increase in the number of people.
Dizon appealed to protest groups participating on Independence Day to adhere to the agreed-upon time and location of their protest actions, not obstruct motorists and the public, and refrain from vandalizing public and private structures.
