The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday announced that it canceled the proposed "shared lane" for bicycles and motorcycles along EDSA.
This comes after MMDA chair Romando 'Don' Artes held a meeting with representatives of motorcycle and cyclist groups where they failed to reach an agreement.
"No one agreed. We have to study what options," Artes said during a press briefing at the MMDA headquarters.
In addition, he brought up the problem of motorcyclists routinely using the designated bicycle lane.
"As we speak, many motorcycles enter the exclusive bike lanes," Artes said.
"When it is restricted, we are the ones who are criticized," he added.
The agency is eyeing to take other alternatives like the "elevated walkway or bikelane" which is said to help ease traffic on EDSA.
MMDA earlier announced that it will start to fine motorists who will be caught using the line designated only for cyclists or bicycle riders along EDSA.
There are currently 160,000 motorcycles passing through EDSA daily.
