The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has prepared 25 vehicles that will offer libreng sakay for commuters affected by the nationwide transport strike next week.
In a statement on Friday, MMDA acting chairman Don Artes said they are coordinating with the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in regard to the route of the vehicles.
"Magkakaroon ng coordinated dispatch ng mga ipakakalat na sasakyan para hindi mawalan ng masasakyan ang mga mananakay," he added.
Artes said they are also studying if the number coding scheme would be suspended on Monday, March 6, the first day of the week-long transport strike.
Meanwhile, several local government units in Metro Manila have announced their own libreng sakay initiatives.
The City Government of Muntinlupa is offering free rides in the city like bus, flexi vans, jeepneys, and other transport vehicles for affected commuters.
The City of Las Piñas will also be conducting libreng sakay from 5 am to 9 pm from March 6 to 12.
Likewise, the Quezon City government announced that it will have libreng sakay for areas where many commuters flocks, such as Cubao, Commonwealth Avenue, Welcome Rotonda, Novaliches Bayan, LTFRB, East Avenue, Quezon Memorial Circle, and Fairview.
