The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) released an apology video directed to Miss Universe Kyrgyzstan Altynai Botoyarova and her country after Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu mistakenly mentioned 'Kazakhstan' instead of 'Kyrgyzstan'.

On Sunday, the organization uploaded a video of the CEO Amy Emmerich together with Miss Universe Kyrgyzstan 2022 Altynai Botoyarova addressed 'To the People of Kyrgyzstan'.

"I'm here to apologize to the Kyrgyzstan people and to Altynai. Unfortunately [in] the preliminary competition, our host failed to say Kyrgyzstan and give you the information that you deserve in the proper way," the CEO said.

Emmerich also stated that the Miss Universe Organization will take full account without excuses.

"We need to do better. There's no excuse and we apologize. We would not want to mess up the amazing time that we want for Altynai to have here with us," she added.

Afterward, Botoyarova responded, accepting the apology.

"Thank you for your sincere apologies, I truly appreciate it. I am Miss Kyrgyzstan 2021 and I am proudly representing my country Kyrgyzstan here," she said as translated by MUO.

The beauty queen also expressed gratitude to the organization for immediately addressing the issue.

"I want to express my deep gratitude to the Miss Universe Organization for taking this issue seriously. You proved one more time that you are the largest and best competition," she added.

Meanwhile, Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu uploaded her apology on her Instagram story saying she was deeply sorry for the mistake and that her 'nervousness onstage is not a reflection of the deep respect' she has for Kyrgyzstan.

The video was uploaded on the same day of the 71st Miss Universe coronation in which Fil-Am Miss Universe USA R'Bonney Gabriel was crowned.
