Person deprived of liberty (PDL) Michael Cataroja has reenacted how he escaped from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) maximum compound in Muntinlupa City last month.
In a video released by the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Sunday, August 20, the 25-year-old PDL was seen going under the garbage truck just to break out.
He made the reenactment after he was recaptured by the Angono Municipal Police at Sitio Manggahan, Brgy. San Isidro in Angono, Rizal.
In an interview with reporters, Cataroja said he escaped the NBP maximum compound because he fear for his life.
"Ayaw ko nang bumalik sa Bilibid kasi ayoko mamatay do'n. Walang tumutulong sa akin. Iniisip ko kasi yung hatol sa akin," he said.
"Iniisp ko kung makakalaya pa ako," Cataroja added.
The Senate Committee on Justice, chaired by Senator Francis Tolentino, is set to hold a second hearing regarding the escape of the PDL inmate on Tuesday, August 22.
Last month, the Department of Justice (DOJ) claimed that the bone found inside NBP septic tank belonged to Cataroja, who went missing on July 15.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Medico Legal team then conducted forensic identification and revealed that the bones retrieved inside the septic tank were likely to be chicken bone and not human bone.
