The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Friday, Nov. 24, warned the public to refrain from transacting with fake Facebook pages claiming that lost pieces of luggage at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) are on sale.
According to MIAA, the airport authority has clear and established protocols for safekeeping and disposal of lost or left-behind items, noting that selling items are not allowed.
"Please be vigilant against Facebook pages falsely claiming to represent Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Our only official Facebook page is facebook.com/MIAAGovPH," the MIAA said in its advisory.
Meanwhile, MIAA officer-in-charge Bryan Co expressed his dismay over the fraudsters behind the fake accounts.
“We appeal to everyone to be extremely careful and vigilant when browsing through the internet. Always exercise caution when engaging with online sellers. Do not be easy targets of scammers," Co said.
In line with this, MIAA is encouraging the public to report such fake Facebook pages for their safety.
