A passenger was caught at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 carrying an immense, undeclared sum in cold cash on Wednesday, June 25.
During a routine security screening, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP) discovered ₱1.2 million and $580,000 in cash in the male passenger’s baggage.
He, along with the bundles of cash, have been placed in the custody of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), the latter for serial number identification and both subject to further investigation.
“This accomplishment highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination among airport authorities at our largest international airport, where various violations may occur and (violators) must be held accountable,” he said.
