A mayor was shot and wounded in an ambush incident in Pasay City on Wednesday night.

According to the Pasay City Police report, the official involved in the ambush was identified as Mayor Ohto Montwal Caumbo of Datu Montwal, Maguindanao del Sur, who was shot in his waist and arms.

Caumbo was rushed to Manila Hospital but was transferred to Asian Hospital and is now in a safe condition.

Meanwhile, a witness said that the ambush happened while Caumbowas riding a Toyota Hi-Ace with a license plate NCN-7620 and crossing Roxas Boulevard Service Road to Gil Puyat Avenue.

The police continued to probe the assassination attempt on the mayor last night.
