Three people, including a 3-month-old baby, were killed in an ambush along the national highway in Radjah Buayan, Maguindanao del Sur, on Thursday afternoon, December 12.
According to a report by RH Jun Dimacutac, the victims were identified as Harrah Jinn Utto Lumenda, the wife of a security escort for a town politician; her 3-month-old baby girl; and the driver, Nunokan Manalindo.
Another victim, Bai Kong Lumenda Utto, survived the attack but sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
Police reports state that the victims were traveling in a gray minivan driven by Nunokan when unidentified gunmen ambushed them.
Former Radjah Buayan Mayor Datu Yacob Ampatuan condemned the killing, noting that one of the victims was his relative.
Investigators recovered one empty shell and three fired slugs of an unknown caliber from the crime scene.
Authorities are still working to determine the motive behind the attack.
