The Maynilad Water Services will provide rebates to its customers affected by the prolonged water interruption, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) announced Tuesday.

In a statement, the MWSS said the investigation of its Regulatory Office (RO) found that customers within the supply zone of Putatan Water Treatment Plants (PWTP) have been experiencing water interruptions since December 20, 2022.

"Maynilad Services Inc. was found to have violated its Service Obligation of ensuring the availability of an uninterrupted 24-hour supply of water to conduct within the PWTP Supply Zone," it said.

According to MWSS, Maynilad accepted the imposed violation and volunteered to provide rebates to the affected customers.

The MWSS further said it has ordered Maynilad to fast-track the resumption of normal water supply, noting that water is essential, especially during this time of pandemic crisis.
