President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially signed the Enterprise-Based Education and Training (EBET) Framework into law.
The EBET Framework Act is a priority initiative of the current administration designed to strengthen, streamline, and unify various enterprise-based training modalities under a single framework.
Furthermore, it seeks to expand training opportunities for individuals aiming to acquire, develop, and enhance their skills, fostering a resilient and globally competitive Filipino workforce equipped to meet the demands of an evolving labor market.
The law complements the Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act by aligning government efforts to reduce unemployment, promote career advancement, and strengthen national competitiveness and economic sustainability
"Through this law, we renew our focus on our most important asset, our people. The EBET Framework Act is both visionary and certainly timely," Marcos said in his speech after the ceremonial signing at Malacañang on Thursday.
Marcos shared the recent report from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), which showed an improvement in the unemployment rate over the past three months, adding that the newly signed law could help sustain and further improve these figures.
"By establishing a framework on career advancement and industry relevant skills, this law directly addresses the issues on the lack of formal training and skill dispatches, ensuring that every Filipino can contribute and benefit from our nation's growth," he added.
The EBET Framework Act may provide a structured pathway to employment and career advancement for trainees.
This covers a wide range of skills and professional levels. The general EBET programs will focus on foundational and mid-level skills, offering practical training that prepares participants for immediate employment.
Meanwhile, Marcos called on and recognized the crucial role of the private sector in driving technical-vocational education and enterprise-based training programs, especially those implemented in partnership with companies and firms,
"Through this act, we will harness private sector partnerships to align our training programs with real-world industry needs," said Marcos.
The EBET Framework Act consolidates various approaches, including apprenticeship, leadership, and the dual training system, into one cohesive structure.
